--AUDIO AS INCOMING -- An attack from inside Syria Sunday kills a 15-year-old in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. It's the first fatality on Israel's side of the frontier since the Syrian civil war began more than three years ago. Israelis responded with tank fire at Syrian army positions in answer to what an Israeli military spokesman describes as an intentional attack. A military spokesman says it's not yet clear whether a roadside bomb, an artillery shell or mortar round, fired from Syria was responsible. The spillover from the Syrian civil war into the Golan Heights comes as U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry met earlier with his Egyptian counterpart in Cairo, where he raised concerns about the region. The Israeli air force has attacked targets inside Syrian territories in the Golan Heights. Immediately after the airstrikes, Israeli Minister of Military Affairs Moshe Yaalon warned Damascus of a high price for what he called the Syrian government's help for militant groups determined to attack Israel. The strikes come one day after a blast in the Israeli-occupied region left four Israeli soldiers wounded. Hours after the explosion, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Tel Aviv would act forcefully to preserve Israel's security. Israel occupied Syria's Golan Heights during the Six-Day War of 19-67, when it also seized control of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. The UN also regards the Golan Heights as occupied territory.
It seems that Israel is a good incubator for the terrorist groups who are fighting for a regime chane in Syria. These groups are present here between these valleys under the control of the Israeli army.
An Israeli drone strike has targeted a vehicle in Syria’s Golan Heights. The driver of the car was killed in the attack in Quneitra area. Earlier, Israeli Minister of Military Affairs Avigdor Lieberman threatened to destroy Syria’s air defense systems should Damascus use them against Israeli warplanes. The remarks were made after the Syrian army said it fired several missiles at Israeli fighter jets when they conducted a series of airstrikes around the ancient Syrian city of Palmyra on Friday. Tel Aviv has time and again violated Syria’s sovereignty by firing missiles into the war-ravaged country and conducting air raids inside its territory. Thousands of Hezbollah supporters have turned out for the funeral of a prominent fighter killed in a suspected Israeli helicopter strike in Syria’s Golan Heights on Sunday. The Lebanese Shi’ite Islamist movement said Jihad Moughniyah and commander Mohammed Issa, known as Abu Issa, were among six of its members who died in the province of Quneitra. Moughniyah’s late father Imad was implicated in several attacks on Israeli and Western targets. Hezbollah accused Israel of assassinating him in 2008. Israeli media reports say it’s believed the young fighter headed a unit that was plotting to attack Israel. Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have confirmed that an Iranian general was among those killed, saying he had been in Syria to advise forces loyal to President al-Assad. Israel seized the Golan Heights from Syria towards the end of the 1967 Middle East war. Following the strike UN peacekeepers stepped up patrols along the border between Lebanon and Israel.
