Wouldn't it be great if information research worked the same way? 00:30 Join us as we talk with researchers who aim to bring this model to the internet with Information Cartography. 00:44 [Intro graphics/music] 00:53 Eric Horvitz is known the world over for his expertise in artificial intelligence. But it was a poster hanging on an intern's wall that inspired this ACM Fellow to join her quest for a better way to present information. 01:10 DR. HORVITZ: So Dafna Shahaf was an intern with us, and I got to know her as a really broad thinker, someone who combines formal methods with large-scale, ill-defined problems, and... she was looking at these information maps that had been done by hand, of sort of how a field evolves, what's the history of machine intelligence. ... And she said, "I wonder if I could do this automatically. I wonder if I can create storylines automatically to explain hard, challenging development, developing areas to people in a clear way. 01:43 The result is Information Cartography, a model that brings together big data, optimization, and visualization. 01:51 DR. GUESTRIN: Information Cartography is about providing a guide, a map, to finding the information around big data problems, and bringing humans into the loop where massive amounts of information make it really hard for a human to navigate that space. 02:09 In one implementation, it starts with keywords, just like a web search. But there the similarities end. 02:18 DR. GUESTRIN: In Information Cartography you can imagine putting a keyword that's of interest and getting a map back. ... Another way to get started could be, "Oh, here's one article that I'm reading today, give me a map around this article." Another way to get started could be, "Here's two endpoints -- Greek debt crisis, and migration crisis -- Give me a path between them, or give me a map around these." ... From the science perspective you could say, "Here is the bibliography of the papers I've written so far. Build me a map around them. And by the way, tell me papers I should read or should have cited, that I haven't cited yet." 02:52 DR. HORVITZ: And we focused on the ACM Digital Library and looked at reinforcement learning as an example. And we show a visualization of that in our publication. 03:02 Most importantly, metromaps don't have to be static. 03:07 DR. GUESTRIN: What's really exciting for me about Dafna's vision is the ability to do this kind of an interactive way for any query that you might have. ... Take a starting grad student who wants to learn about machine learning, a field that I'm passionate about. That person probably needs to learn about the basic fundamentals of machine learning. ... Now, if you take a senior grad student, then they already know their foundation. What they really want to know about is: How is my Ph.D. thesis being impacted by new publications out there, and perhaps old ones that I don't know about? And ones in different fields? 03:44 Drs. Horvitz and Guestrin both believe that such an easy-to-navigate model goes beyond simple information management, and could benefit humanity in real and profound ways. 03:55 DR. HORVITZ: There's the prospect of using these tools to get into the minds of other people, to get other perspectives on news stories. ... And the idea is, can we come up with technologies -- can we harness computer science, can we harness optimization, information retrieval, and visualization -- to combat the prospect that we're getting only tiny keyhole views of a situation? 04:24 DR. GUESTRIN: And we've only scratched the surface of the possibilities here. If you can do this well, we can have a more informed world, faster scientific discoveries, you can have better political discourse. http://www.kla.tv/6147 ~ Derzeit gehen bei Klagemauer-TV zahlreiche Zuschriften mit dem Hinweis auf das österreichische EU-Austrittsvolksbegehren ein. Wir haben bereits im Oktober 2014 - während der Einleitungsphase darüber berichtet. Mittlerweile wurde das überparteiliche EU-Austritts-Volksbegehren durch die erfolgreiche Einreichung von über 10.000 unterzeichneten Unterstützungserklärungen vom österreichischen Innenministerium genehmigt. Damit ist Österreich das erste Land, in dem es ein offizielles, vom Staat genehmigtes EU-Austritts-Volksbegehren geben wird. Ein Volksbegehren bedeutet in der Praxis, dass die österreichische Bevölkerung nun während 7 Tagen Gelegenheit hat, mit einer Unterschrift zu beantragen, dass das österreichische Parlament sich mit der Frage eines EU-Austrittes befasst. Es muss dann entscheiden, ob eine Volksabstimmung zum EU-Austritt durchgeführt wird. Damit es dazu kommt, braucht es 100'000 Unterschriften. Der offizielle Text des von der Bürger-Initiative Heimat und Umwelt initiierten Volksbegehrens lautet: „Der Nationalrat möge den Austritt der Republik Österreich aus der Europäischen Union mit Bundesverfassungsgesetz, welches einer Volksabstimmung zu unterziehen ist, beschließen.“ Aus dem Informations-Flyer zum EU-Austritts-Volksbegehren geht ergänzend dazu folgendes hervor: „Das EU-Austritts-Volksbegehren ist eine einmalige Chance, der Bevormundung durch „Brüssel“ in fast allen Lebensbereichen eine klare Absage zu erteilen, um wieder zu einem freien und neutralen Österreich zu kommen. Dass es überhaupt zustande kam, haben alle Österreicher den gesetzlich geforderten, zehntausend Bürgern und Bürgerinnen zu verdanken, die es bereits in die Einleitungsphase unterschrieben haben! Das war die Voraussetzung für die offizielle Genehmigung durch das Innenministerium. Damit ist nun klar, dass der Austritt aus der EU rechtlich und politisch einwandfrei und korrekt wäre.“ Alle stimmberechtigten österreichischen Bürger haben die Möglichkeit das Volksbegehren zu unterzeichnen. Die öffentliche Eintragungsfrist für das Volksbegehren beginnt am 24. Juni und endet am 1. Juli 2015. Unntakstilstand beskriver situasjoner hvor normale lover og regler settes ut av spill, gjerne forårsaket av en plutselig katastrofe eller uventet hendelse. I Tore Vagn Lids sceniske DUB forenes scenekunst med DUB-dj-ens arbeidsmåter rundt et felles mål: Å forberede oss på unntakstilstanden og lage et slags «beredskapsteater» for fremtiden. Thomas Hobbes’ verk Leviathan, beskriver «naturtilstanden» som en alles krig mot alle. Stikkord for det sceniske albumet blir det handlende, og ikke minst det samhandlende mennesket, i en fremtid preget av nye kriser og nye kamper der spillereglene endres og risikosoner utvides. DUB som musikkproduksjonsform oppsto i en tid av protest og opprør på Jamaica rundt 1970. Miksepulten fikk en utvidet funksjon, «kompet» sto i sentrum og vokalsporet forsvant. Dette gjøres i dette sceneprosjektet om til et musikkdramaturgisk prinsipp. Vagn Lid er kjent for produksjoner som belyser samfunnsspørsmål og utforsker teatermediets muligheter. Både Die Maßnahme (2007), Elephant Stories (2009) og Fatzer (2012) fikk internasjonal oppmerksomhet da de fikk premiere på Festspillene, og Kill them all (2013) mottok blant annet Kritikerprisen. I tråd med DUB-sjangerens idé, følger Vagn Lid med sitt nye prosjekt opp motiver fra tidligere arbeid, fra eurokrisens selvmordsbølge til de utallige «taperne» under den globale kapitalismens «hårdere himmel». Albumet består av skivene: Alles krig, Mot og Alle som vises i ulike kombinasjoner i spilleperioden på Cornerteateret og kan oppleves enkeltvis eller i kombinasjon. Continued from 11g: historical interplay between four-generation curse, and Church as salt-of-the-earth. Paul deliberately links our increasingly-apostate retardation, to the future disasters of Roman history. He does this by meter, but also by keywords in the text. So, this video introduces that rhetorical style, which is a major feature in Scripture, and was then also a popular feature of Greek drama: use a keyword in a script, to make a wry aside on then-current history, to the audience. Bible used that drama feature ever since Psalm 90, and the tradition continues in Paul. So here we begin to see how he does it. 11i through 11v GGS will then show clause by clause, the relevance of Paul's keywords to FUTURE history -- as we know it today, and can test. Thus you can more readily appreciate this rhetorical style, examine then-FUTURE history God had Paul plot as a play. Just as, God did for Daniel. John's Revelation maps its opening prologue meter in verses 1-3, to both Psalm 90 and the first 126 syllables of Ephesians 1:3-6. Shocking. (I just learned this on 8/04/2011.) So you can trace this wry rhetorical style backwards to Psalm 90, Isaiah 53, Daniel 9. For they all use it. Then examine Roman and Greek plays, pick one: my Greek favorites are Ion by Euripides (which Paul uses as his model for Ephesians), and Aristophanes' The Frogs. Then pick anything by Plautinus (bawdy Roman playwright), Terence, and if you can stomach him (I can't) -- Seneca. It's important to see the sotto voce drama style in vogue when Paul writes, to prove Paul's imitating it. Proper hermeneutics requires apprehending the exact thought of the writer. To do that, you must know the cultural loading in the words written and what was going on at the time. We Christians are lousy scholars, so we miss what God says. Our loss!
