Sixty years after the death of Joseph Stalin, many of his supporters are marking the anniversary. The dictator led the Soviet Union from 1924 to 1953 and millions were executed or sent to prison under his rule. But today, there are many who see him as a hero. Anantnag (Jammu and Kashmir), May 26 (ANI): Devotees, cutting across religious lines, thronged the shrine of Sufi saint Syed Neik Reshi in Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar on Friday to commemorate his death anniversary. People visited the shrine and offered prayers to seek blessings of the saint. Devotees offered prayers as the shrine resounded with recitations of Quranic verses. People prayed for peace and tranquility in northern Jammu and Kashmir which has seen a resurgence in violence this year. Urs is observed to mark the death anniversary of any departed saintly figure. Although it is an Islamic tradition, people of all faiths participated in the event with equal reverence.

Remembering their "Dear Leader". North Korea on Tuesday marked the second anniversary of Kim Jong Il's death. Its political and military elite held a massive memorial in the capital Pyongyang, where they pledged their loyalty to his son and successor, Kim Jong Un. Dera Bugti/Sui (Balochistan), Aug 26 (ANI): Baloch Republican Party and other activists from Balochistan on Friday paid tributes to late Baloch freedom fighter Nawab Akbar Bugti for his lifetime struggle and sacrifices for the Balochistan’s freedom. People expressed their love and respect by lightning candles in front of the Akbar Bugti’s picture.
